This spring Elizabeth Pringle has the honor of directing The Laramie Project, a play created from deep listening to the stories and responses around the tragic murder and aftermath in 1998 of Matthew Shepard, a gay college student in Laramie, Wyoming.
The young theatre artists of The Duke Ellington School of the Arts chose this play as an opportunity to engage in an important conversation about acceptance, justice, and humanity, and tackle complex social issues through performance. By revisiting this pivotal moment in history, the production of The Laramie Project is a crucial reminder of the dangers of intolerance and the urgent need for compassion and empathy in our country.
