What happens when we thank someone for listening to us?
When you’re telling someone how you feel about an emotional topic, you can pause partway to tell them you appreciate them. You can say, “Thank you for not saying anything and just listening right now. It’s really helping me.”
Your appreciation will reinforce their behavior and reassure them they’re helping you even without saying anything.
