Kay McKean co-founded The Good Listening Project after working with leadership teams across industries to build trust and psychological safety in workplace cultures. Previously, she worked in organizational culture and human capital roles at NYU Medical Center, Union Square Hospitality Group, SoulCycle and Atlantic Media Company.
Kay received her undergraduate degree in Healthcare Administration at Georgetown University.
I met Frankie when he was writing free custom poetry at an event in 2018. My husband actually met him first and said, “you have to meet my wife!” Frankie wrote us a poem and I was immediately struck by the power of the experience he was offering—an opportunity for someone to be heard and to capture what they wanted to express.
“I have a lot of unresolved grief,” she confessed. It was her grief that made her good at empathizing with the hospice community she served. “Would resolving my grief make me less effective with my patients?”
“It feels like time is running out to make big changes,” she shared. The last 6 months were full of transition in all aspects of her life.
The five of them work together in a Pediatric ER unit. “People die here,” one exclaimed, and part of their job is to bring light to a dark place.
